Playing With Colors
Sticking with neutral colors helps to keep any room feeling flexible for furniture changes, and seasonal decor. You can see how the deep color of the fireplace, and the medium stain of the wood accent wall above creates interest, and charm to the space. All while the white backdrop gives it the contrast it needs in order to stand out.

See here how the counters are dark, and the range hood is painted the same color as the fireplace. This is a pop of color, that isn't over embellished, while still connecting the sight from the living room, into the kitchen.

Here the accent wall is a different color, but it's still connected by the design on the wall.
While there is a lack of dark paint in this room, the beams are connecting the rooms together, while the pops of blue in the chair, and rug are adding interest.
